Window fashion is all about colour and texture this spring
(NC)—A blend of textures and styles—from natural to 21st -century metallic—combined with pops of bright, optimistic colour are everywhere in today’s interiors. It’s not unusual to see a Mies van der Rohe chair in a bright red next to a woven basket on an Oriental carpet.
Windows are getting into all this action too.
Sally Morse, the director of creative services for window fashion leader, Hunter Douglas, says: “Texture is really at its best at the window where natural light adds depth to it with peaks and valleys, highs and lows. Colour at the window can bring a room together to make it seem bigger, or if it is a different colour than the wall, the window treatment will break it up, as your eye stops to look at it, making the space seem smaller and more intimate.”
This spring Hunter Douglas has introduced brand new offerings for three of its products—Pirouette window shadings, Vignette Modern Roman Shades and EverWood Collection blinds. These deliver a range of colour and texture for the most casual to the most formal interiors.
Pirouette shadings, which resembles the classic look of a hobbled Roman shade but with vanes that open and close against a soft sheer backing, has five new fabrics. These include new tinted sheers; a faux-silk in rich, bold hues; a shimmering metallic; a bamboo and flax combination for a natural and casual feel and a cotton fabric made from 80 percent recycled yarns.
Vignette shades, which have no exposed rear cords for a clean appearance from the exterior and enhanced child safety, have been updated to include new reed looks in natural tones and textured silks in colours like gold leaf and clay as well as additional classic linens. These shades are also available in a vertical format with stacking folds side-to-side—perfect for sliding glass doors and the like.
The EverWood Collection of alternative wood blinds, long renowned for providing the warmth and style of real wood blinds with the advantages of modern engineered materials, has also added three new textured looks: grass weave, leather and linen. Combined with one of the dozens of new decorative tape options, you can get a truly custom look. In the “good facts to know” department, the EverWood Collection is the only brand of alternative wood blinds with a trademarked protection against fading, yellowing, warping and bowing.
